Germany clinch U-21 Euro crown

KRAKOW,POLAND:Mitchell Weiser scored with a looping first-half header to hand Germany the under-21 European Championship title after a 1-0 win over Spain in the southern Polish city of Krakow on Friday. It is Germany’s second title in the age group following their triumph in 2009, while Spain failed to expand their collection of four titles.

CHELSEA SIGN WELSH TEENAGE STAR AMPADU

LONDON:Highly-rated 16-year-old Welsh defender Ethan Ampadu has secured a dream move to Premier League champions Chelsea from Exeter, the English fourthtier side announced. Ampadu played 13 times for Exeter last season after becoming their youngest ever debutant aged 15.

DEULOFEU RETURNS TO BARCELONA

BARCELONA:Spain winger Gerard Deulofeu is returning to Barcelona from English Premier League outfit Everton on a twoyear deal, the Spanish giants announced. “FC Barcelona have activated the buy-back clause for Gerard Deulofeu,” the Catalans said in a statement .

REAL MADRID FORWARD DIAZ JOINS LYON

LYON: Real Madrid striker Mariano Diaz Mejia has joined Lyon on a five-year deal, the French club announced on Friday. Diaz, 23, has worked his way though the ranks at Madrid and scored five goals in 14 top-team appearances last season as the Spanish giants won La Liga and the Champions League.

SAINTS’ PELLEGRINO MAKES FIRST SIGNING

LONDON: Poland U-21 defender Jan Bednarek became new Southampton manager Mauricio Pellegrino’s first signing on Saturday. The 21-year-old centreback – who has been on duty for his country at the European U-21 championships – signed a fiveyear contract with the Saints paying a reported £5 million fee.

SAUL EXTENDS ATLETICO DEAL

MADRID: Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez on Saturday signed a contract extension that will keep him at the La Liga outfit for another nine years. The 22-year-old joined Atletico’s academy in 2007, and extended his stay in the capital by a further five seasons, despite reported interest from other clubs.

MARQUINHOS EXTENDS PSG DEAL TO 2022
